The epic struggle between good and evil; conscience and primal instincts, is brought to life in the musical phenomenon, Jekyll & Hyde. Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring a thrilling score of pop-rock hits from multi-Grammy- and Tony-nominated Frank Wildhorn and double-Oscar and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde has mesmerised audiences worldwide.

The award-winning Bishops Stortford Musical Theatre Company presented a tale of two men – one, a doctor, passionate and romantic; the other, a terrifying madman – and two women – one, beautiful and trusting; the other, a beautiful lady of the night, trusting only herself. Both fall in love with the same man, unaware of his dark secret. Dr. Henry Jekyll strives to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind’s most challenging medical dilemmas, but lacking the support of his Governors, decides to make himself the subject of his experimental treatments, unleashing his inner demons along with the man that the world would come to know as Mr. Hyde.

Bishop’s Stortford Musical Theatre Company (BSMTC) is to be applauded for its change of direction after its last three big autumn production choices of Oklahoma!, Sister Act and Calamity Jane.

Direction and choreography were excellent, one of the highlights being the dance scene with the Red Rat Girls dressed in red and black complete with bustiers and suspenders. There were also some great chorus numbers and the orchestra under the guidance of MD Frances Jefferies provided excellent accompaniment and was never too loud, allowing us to hear every word of the songs as well as the dialogue. This was a terrific show. Congratulations to all involved. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
